Prior to Adjudication:

• Please make as many verbal and written comments as possible.
• Directors want to go home w ith new ideas and concepts for themselves.
• Remember that these are elementary, middle school/junior high and high school students.   Comments should be directed towards these age groups.   Directors do play your tapes for the students.
• Be consistant with your remarks and numerical scores. If everything is a "Wow" on the tape, then the rating is a Superior.       

 During the Adjudication:

• KEEP ALL SCORE SHEETS until the end of the festival competition.      
• Fill out “CHEAT SHEET” before writing on score sheets to avoid erasure marks on the sheets.
• The warm-up piece is NOT adjudicated – please DO NOT make any written or taped comments while they are performing this piece.
• Soloists in the warm-up piece are NOT eligible for individual awards.
• Please clarify scores by using the “+” and “- “ system – please refer to enclosed example.
• Periodically check your tape recorder to make sure it is working properly.
• Please be sure final mark is consistent with verbal commentary and sign your tapes.

After the Adjudication:

• Please talk with your colleague(s) about numerical scores, soloist awards, etc.   Remember, no more than five points between your scores.

• Individual Awards – If more than one high school and more than one middle school group, please list one HS student and one MS student.   Otherwise, just list one student.
