Q: I don't understand the Esprit de Corps Award or how you choose the winner. Please help!

A: The Esprit De Corps Award is not linked to the numerical score your students received for their performance. This special award emphasizes the social behavior and awareness of the students, rather than their musical excellence.

Observation of all students in various situations throughout the festival is of utmost importance.

How cooperative were students, with both the festival staff and their directors, during their warm-up, performance, etc?

Are the students sensitive and respectful to the other ensembles, offering genuine applause and support during their festival performances?

Are the students courteous to the host? Do they keep the performance area, common areas, etc. clean?

High standards can be observed in the physical, mental and emotional behavior of the students both at the Festival and during the Awards Ceremony. Careful thought and evaluation is required to select the right recipient, and it is possible that we cannot see every behavior throughout the course of a festival. We must remember that the trophy is not the most important part of this award, but the road traveled to be considered for this prize.
