Featured city-Philadelphia

In this edition we spotlight a sometimes overlooked student travel destination – Philadelphia. While we all learned the Philadelphia basics in history class, there is so much more that should not be missed (that never got a mention in Middle School).

Independence National Park - Walking tours are available throughout the district, including Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and Carpenter’s Hall. Historic Philadelphia re-enacts many of the aspects of this challenging time in our nation’s struggle for freedom.

The Franklin Institute - With hundreds of exhibits (some hands – on), the Tuttleman IMAX Theater, Fels Planetarium and much more, this is a favorite destination for hours of wonderment.

The Philadelphia Zoo is the nation’s first zoo. With over 1,000 different animals, a petting zoo and a new Primate Center – the Philadelphia Zoo is a must see.

Along with countless other things to see and do in Philadelphia, it is a major culinary experience! With major theme restaurants such as Hard Rock Cafe and Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Grill you and your students have countless opportunities for great food in a fun environment. Plus, you can join in with the rest of Philadelphia in the constant battle for the best Cheesesteak – Pat’s, Jim’s or Gino’s!

If you haven’t toured Philadelphia with your students – now is the time to see why Philadelphia was recently dubbed “The City That Loves You Back”.
