Festivals of Music - Day before the Event

Hang your signs

Signs should be throughout your school and on the major roadways leading to it.   It is likely that the visiting directors will not be familiar with your area, so ample signage is vital. You may want to involve your art department by asking them to laminate your signs. This is a great project for them and will be invaluable to preserve your signs in case of a rainy day.

Gather supplies and equipment

Have all supplies and equipment needed in the appropriate areas and in good working order.

• Make sure pianos and percussion are prepared and ready to go on stage
• Have tables set aside for the registration area
• Place 3 tables near the rear of the performance area for the judges

Meet with your staff

Have one last-minute meeting with your staff for any final questions or concerns.   Upon the conclusion of the meeting, have your staff set-up the warm-up and performance areas.   Your Festival Director will send you stage set-up charts for the ensembles.   Please call if you have not received them by Wednesday the week of the festival.   If the meeting is after school, go ahead & set up the registration & concession (where applicable) areas so you don’t have to worry about it in the morning.
